We at Katabatic believe that our dogs are not only our pets but our companions through life and we strive to keep them active and fulfilled in anyway we can.   Once our dogs are at a suitable age, we like to work them in many different ways either on a rig, bike with a springer or using a back pack.   Both Indy and Flash have gained their Working Pack Dog titles (WPD) via the AMCA system. We however do not compete with our dogs at working events, these activities are solely for fun and bonding with our pack. Betty and Flash on the rig in winter snow   Kyle and Indy Backpacking   Kyle and Kura Cani-boarding (a bit of fun in the winter snow) Betty being biked Kyle has also been using his Expedition Leader skills to good effect by taking groups Dog Sledding in the Arctic Circle to raise money for various charities. Together with friend Per Thore (PT) Hansen (of Arctic Adventure Tours of Norway) he has tested his mushing skills in the extremes of the Arctic winter. He's not quite ready for Europe's biggest mushing event (the Finnmarksløppet) but has relished being out on the ice. It's just a shame he couldn't take his own pack. Kura and Indy on the rig Kyle and his team in the middle of Lake Iešjávri (the largest in the Finnmark region of Norway) We are now working towards working the dogs in other activities to use their minds, after watching Raissa Hinman (Arcticdawn Alaskan Malamutes,USA) at the last two AMCA Nationals in America, doing obedience (Rally) with her dogs, it was truly an eye opener.
